Dear reader,

These days, it’s mainly politics that are on everybody’s minds. In the Netherlands, the formation process drags on. European Parliament elections are on their way. In the United States, presidential elections are scheduled for the fall. Important elections are also taking place elsewhere in the world.

As HQ consistently propagates, cooperation in the financial chain is of great importance. After all, the integrity of the Dutch financial system cannot be safeguarded just by the trust companies; the entire financial industry is responsible, including public parties such as regulators. 

Dear reader,

We are about halfway through the year. A good time to review whether we are on track with the 2023 policy agenda adopted in November. We can see that action has been taken and progress is being made on all matters. 

Dear reader, 

From various angles people are reflecting, discussing and taking action on matters that involve the trust sector. There is a specific focus on fighting money laundering. 

Beste lezer, 

De tijd staat nooit stil. Dus ook tijdens een kerstreces – welke overigens al een eeuwigheid geleden lijkt – gaat het werk gewoon door. Zoals het inhoudelijk bepalen van een positie met het oog op diverse gepland staande overleggen. Die overleggen sluiten goed aan op de vorig jaar vastgestelde agenda 2023.

Geachte mevrouw de minister,

Graag vraag ik uw aandacht voor een zorg die ik als voorzitter van Holland Quaestor met u wil delen waar het de trustsector betreft.

Momenteel gaat er in Nederland veel aandacht naar voorkoming en bestrijding van witwassen, aanpak van belastingontduiking en het tegengaan van belastingontwijking. Bij de aanpak van witwassen is transparantie van groot belang.
